The Drama: underhyped, underappreciated and overlooked. The movie, released in 2026, features Zendaya and Robert Pattinson and explores the broadest ranges of their acting abilities. Beginning the week before the wedding of Emma and Charlie, played by Zendaya and Pattinson respectively, the film follows the couple on their rocky journey to the big day.
The Drama opens to a sequence of sweet scenes following Emma and Charlie going through the end of their wedding preparations. A few minutes into the movie we find the main characters alongside the best man, Mike, played by Mamoudou Athie, and maid of honor, Rachel, played by Alana Haim, finalizing the wedding menu. As they drink wine and taste dishes, Rachel suggests that everybody share the worst thing that they have ever done, perhaps to avoid any feelings of discomfort with each other. When it’s Emma’s turn to share, the entire plot turns south and the rest of the movie follows Charlie trying to rationalize and cope with what Emma did, while she fights to defend herself and preserve their relationship in the days leading up to their wedding.
The movie was phenomenally put together and perfectly conveyed every thought and feeling the directors wanted to impress upon the audience. Junior Lena Meline said, “I thought that it was really refreshing to see a movie that makes fun of how much people overreact in modern culture–especially with social media–because it is so often that people turn to aggression as soon as they hear something bad about a person.” Viewers left the theater feeling awestruck by the cinematography and wildly unsettled by the events and interactions they had witnessed. The movie sparked controversy across the internet following the reveal of the ‘worst’ thing Emma had ever done. It felt like the entire world had turned against her and refused to have any sort of an open mind about a thought she had as a teenager, which occurred over a decade before the wedding.
Starring actors Robert Pattinson and Zendaya did a wonderful job filling the roles of characters with overwhelming moral ambiguity. “Zendaya and Robert Pattinson were phenomenal,” said Meline. ”Robert Pattinson plays panic really well. I could watch him run around and be stressed out all day, and Zendaya is a really good example of how subtlety can serve your acting better than over-the-top gestures.”
The Drama is a movie well-deserving of its title and its praise. The rollercoaster of emotions it takes you on will leave you questioning what it means to truly love someone.
