As the sun rose, so did feelings of excitement and bittersweetness among the new senior class. Although the sky wasn’t very bright on the morning of senior sunrise, the seniors made sure to show up with bright eyes and bright smiles.
Despite the cloudy weather, the class of 2027 took beautiful photos and made unforgettable memories as they experienced their first official senior-exclusive event of the school year. “It’s exciting that I’m finally a senior participating in senior traditions. . . when I have been looking forward to them for the past three years!” said senior Claire Bardell.
Senior Aliya Leon (ASB President) said, “The ASB seniors were prepping the perfect morning days before. It really takes a village for an event like this to come together. Early mornings, long afternoons, all for the love of our school.” Senior President Starly Richards, along with the other seniors in ASB, has been working hard to balance event planning and experiencing those events to their fullest.
Though the weather wasn’t ideal, ASB was relieved to see such an amazing turnout. “The field was filled with posters, smiles and laughter. It created such a blissful atmosphere,” senior Katherine Velasco said.
There were many highlights to take away from senior sunrise, but a key one was the mixing and mingling between different friend groups. “Towards the end as I was taking pictures, I stopped and saw all the groups of friends blending and merging together to create this big loving, tender moment,” Velasco added. “It was beautiful.”
Senior events are important for the culture of our school because they help cultivate a connection between the senior class to create an unforgettable final year of high school. The seniors have a few more exclusive events coming up before the end of the school year, and we can’t wait to see how they turn out!
