Many students at Santa Rosa High School look forward to prom season. An important part of that is finding the perfect outfit, and hairstyle to match, in order to express their individuality. This can be quite the dilemma for many students here on our campus: which hairstyle should they choose for the most exciting night of the school year, the night that they dream of dressing up for and getting ready for throughout their high school career?
A lot of students are pulled toward the half-up half-down style. The beautiful half-up half-down can fit a variety of different styles of clothing, especially when you are struggling to decide if a hairstyle with all your hair pulled up fits your fit. You can also include a cute little braid or twist to pull into the up part of the do, which adds extra personality to your hairstyle.
Other students are drawn to a bun, which can change to fit their desire of messiness or slickness. Oftentimes students decide to curl their front pieces or any pieces that they pull out from the bun to create some volume and frame their face.
Another hairstyle that goes with a variety of outfits comes with the help of an iron. Leaving one’s hair down is chosen by those with the shortest and longest of hair; those with long hair don’t want an updo to fall due to the weight of their hair, while those with short hair simply often cannot pull their hair into an updo or don’t want to worry about all the pins necessary to keep it up.
However, sporting your natural hair is quite an underrated choice. Especially for curly-haired students who have mastered their curl routine, showing off their natural hair should be a top option. Senior Faith Ennis said, “Last year I really wanted to be natural because out of all the high school dances, I’ve always straightened my hair.” After spending some extra time styling it, Ennis was happy with how the look turned out. Why put heat on your hair when you can look hot with your unique personal hair pattern?
Whatever your choice, picking a suitable hairstyle is sure to enhance your prom experience.
