Over the summer, a new brunch location opened in downtown Santa Rosa and quickly made a name for itself within the local dining scene. Cafe Carrusel is a charmingly pink bruncheria that seems straight out of a fairy tale. Its whimsical floral decor paired with its gorgeously plated and creative dishes bring guests into a whole new world from the moment they arrive.
Cafe Carrusel serves brunch around the clock with a menu boasting classic American and Latin dishes. The menu features staples such as omelets, chilaquiles, waffles and crepes alongside a plethora of other creative options you won’t find anywhere else. The menu’s variety makes Carrusel an appealing location for both patrons looking for a traditional style and those looking for something totally new and exciting!
One dish that particularly stands out is the Crème Brûlée French Toast. The French toast itself is fluffy and sweet, accompanied by strawberries and bananas drizzled in syrup, adding another layer of outstanding flavor and texture to each bite. The dish is also plated with a remarkable amount of care. Its elegant presentation makes it just as enjoyable to look at as it is to eat.
Senior Fin Simmons described the experience by saying, “Everything about it really makes you feel like a princess.” That feeling may be Cafe Carrusel’s greatest strength; the bruncheria’s commitment to its theming extends beyond just decorations and food, curating an immersive experience like none other.
As magical as the experience itself is, Carrusel’s one major drawback is the chunk it’ll take out of your wallet. At around $18–22 per main dish, it certainly is not a cheap brunch option. However, considering the quality and presentation, the meal ultimately feels worth the splurge. For anyone looking to add a little more color to their day, Cafe Carrusel is definitely a brunch destination worth visiting!
