The annual Game Awards take place during the holiday season. The Game Awards is both an in-person and online event for games to win awards for Best Action and Adventure, Best Storytelling, Best Online and more.

The hosts shared details on upcoming games that are soon to come. One of the games that was teased was Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, which excited Dragon Ball fans. We were also introduced to Jurassic Park: Survival, which looks to be very promising.

The first major category of the game awards was Best Narrative, which is given to the game that had the best story; it went to Alan Wake 2. It also won the award for Best Game Directors. “I haven’t played Alan Wake 2, but I do love the horror genre and just looking at gameplay,” said junior Andreas Martinez.

The second category that followed was Best Action and Adventure, which was won by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This was a winner because it took the game to new heights from the first one by adding features that were not in Breath of the Wild. “I think that Tears of the Kingdom did deserve that award,” said junior Aranza Reyes.

The next category was RPG Game of the Year, and the winner of this category was Baldur’s Gate 3. Then, the Best Sports/Racing Game award went to Forza Motorsport, which was an Xbox-exclusive game. It had the player driving in speedways from all over the world in different cars, and visually it looked stunning. “Forza Motorsport is a good sport/racing game, so it did deserve it,” said junior Tyler Victorio.

At the end of the live stream, the hosts revealed the Game of the Year: Baldur’s Gate 3. Baldur’s Gate victory sparked controversy in the community because people believed that Spider-Man 2 should have won. “I feel that Baldur’s Gate wasn`t really promoted enough to win Game of the Year,” said Martinez.

At the end of the day, it is important to remember that there isn’t a perfect game out there because every game has a flaw. You should simply try enjoying the games and genres you love to play.
