Do you like helping others? Are you curious about how the human body and mind function? Do you ever wonder what the path is to becoming a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, psychologist or therapist? If so, then consider joining Santa Rosa High School’s new Pre-Medical Club.
After months of planning, our Pre-Medical Club is now one of the many fun and exciting clubs on campus. This new club will meet during lunch on Fridays in Room 13.
Throughout the school year, the Pre-Medical Club will serve the purpose of helping our panthers explore different careers in the medical field and connect to other panthers with whom they might share interests. Members of the club will be exposed to different people in the medical field and will have the opportunity to learn from their experiences and journeys into the medical field.
Joining this club will also be a fantastic way to learn about various summer opportunities that some of our nearby colleges offer in the health care industry. The medical field offers hundreds of jobs of which many high school students are not aware, so joining this club will be a great opportunity for the club members to be in contact with actual health care workers.
Advisor first name Kayla Catelani explained, “I would say [students] really need to consider it if they are interested in science anyway — if it crosses their minds in any way about getting into the medical field at all, like being in nursing, phlebotomy, a doctor, a veterinarian — to give this club a shot because they are going to learn so much.”
For all students interested in or even simply curious about health care careers, starting as a member of the Pre-Medical Club is a great stepping stone into these careers. This club will be a great and safe place for students to come in and feel like they are getting one step forward towards their dream or future jobs in the medical field.
