Welcome, Ms. Finnerty

By Starly Richards,

Staff Writer.

This school year, Santa Rosa High School has welcomed several new staff, including assistant principal Jill Finnerty. She has been in education for 28 years and spent the last year at Rincon Valley Middle School as an assistant principal. However, this year she ended up making the move to bigger, better things.

With nearly three decades of experience, Finnerty looks forward to the challenges the new school year has to offer. She has already been a big help to faculty and students alike and hopes to continue to offer her services to anyone who needs it.

This first month at SRHS has well exceeded her expectations. From the considerable size of our campus, to the ocean of hundreds of students, to how kind everybody on campus is. The wide range of classes and extracurricular activities our school has to offer to help students achieve their goals in the four years they have here is also quite impressive to Finnerty: “There’s huge sports here; if you’re into arts there’s a lot in ArtQuest; if you like more hands-on type classes there’s a lot to offer, and that’s exciting to me.”

Her main goal for her first year with Santa Rosa High is to get to know and understand our campus and build connections with the students: “I’m looking forward to getting to know everybody and just being a part of all your guys’ fun activities and traditions here.” Finnerty plans to gradually integrate herself into the lives of the students and staff.

Outside of her worklife, Finnerty appreciates and enjoys spending time in nature. She loves being outdoors and doing activities such as hiking, camping with her family and spending time with her rescue dogs, as well as open water distance swimming. She has recently been training for a race from Alcatraz to Aquatic Park Cove in San Francisco.

Santa Rosa High School is so excited and grateful for this new addition to administration and excited to see what she’s got.
