ArtQuest Theatre Level 3’s first performance of the 2025-26 school year was an outstanding production of Kimberly Belflower’s “Lost Girl.” “Lost Girl” is a continuation of “Peter Pan” from the perspective of the protagonist Wendy Darling. Two outstanding casts performed the show with Wendy portrayed by senior Dalia Bugica in the senior cast and junior Ace Saunders in the junior cast.
As tradition for ArtQuest Theatre, the show ran for three days with a total of four shows starting on Nov. 13 and ending on Nov. 15. Opening and closing nights were run by the senior class, whereas Friday night and Saturday matinee were by the junior class. The show is centered in an alluring set of Wendy’s childhood bedroom, an in-sync chorus of ex-girlfriends and powerful monologues of the struggles of moving on.
The story, which follows a teenage Wendy’s struggles to readjust to her normal life after her time in Neverland, is a beautiful coming-of-age story with a powerful message of growing up, letting go of childhood innocence and moving on. After reckoning with her inability to grow up and loss of father and friends, the Lost Boys, she realizes she had given her kiss away to Peter Pan as a child and she is determined to retrieve her kiss. When she finally takes his own kiss in a bittersweet trade, she comes to terms and sets out to move on and grow up. “It’s a neat story and there are a lot of good moments where it says very profound things about love and relationships and how they affect our lives,” said junior Lena Meline.
ArtQuest Theatre Level 3 started the year off right with their entertaining portrayal of teenage angst and adventure. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in February!
