Guide to SRJC enrollment

Are you interested in taking courses at SRJC? If you are, now is the time to apply! Thankfully, all SRHS students have easy access to dual enrollment and free tuition.

The first step in dual enrollment is deciding which courses you want to take from the class schedule on the SRJC website and getting approval from your counselor. There may be prerequisites to complete to take the course of your choice.

You must complete an online application at the SRJC admissions website, including the California Community College application (CCC Apply). You will need to complete a new SRJC application for each semester of dual enrollment. After submitting your application, you will receive a welcome letter from the JC containing all the important information for your time at the JC, such as your student ID and password.

Next, you will need to fill out the dual enrollment form. Use the websites above regarding admissions to do so, and ensure that you use the correct course name—for example, College Composition is regarded as ENGL 1A. A parent will also receive an email from SRJC and must sign and submit a form online. Forms must be completed 48 hours prior to the start of the SRJC semester.

Junior Michael Spears weighs in on the process: “I really appreciate the option of dual enrollment, and it has helped me significantly.” He will be taking multiple courses there during his senior year.

To ensure that you have completed the prerequisites mentioned previously, you must fill out a prerequisite challenge form in your student portal and an equivalency form if you have completed parts of that subject elsewhere.
After being approved by SRJC, at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, you can register for your classes on the SRJC student portal. If you have any questions regarding the process, the best people to contact are CCC counselor Tracy Batchelder or your school counselor.
