As the holidays creep closer, Santa Rosa High School’s acclaimed annual Fine Arts Fair is right around the corner! The Fine Arts Fair showcases a multitude of crafts from pins to cutting boards for sale that were created by our beloved arts electives. The revenues from the fair support ArtQuest and supplies needed for our aspiring artists. The well-crafted items can also make for an amazing homemade gift for your loved ones this December.
This fair is put on by students taking Fine Arts classes such as 3D art, ceramics, woodshop and other visual or physical handiwork classes. These classes present a table or two at the fair, showing the items that students have created for sale. These items, made of all types of materials, are handmade ornaments, small plates, wooden boxes and more.
Digital arts also provides colorful and funky crafts for the fair. “We sell a variety of things we’ve worked on during the past few weeks!” explained junior Fin Simmons. Digital arts makes an assortment of fun buttons, bookmarks and ornaments that are filled with memes and silly centerpieces.
Alongside the art classes, Santa Rosa High School’s National Art Honors Society, filled with students across many of our art specialties, participates in running the Fine Arts Fair. “We make soap and candles and sell mystery bags,” explained NAHS member and senior Dylan Paris. “It helps raise money to support our club activities.” If you’re looking for items such as soap bars, stickers, candles and tote bags, NAHS makes a variety of pieces to satisfy you!
This fair takes place in the SRHS Multipurpose Room in the Main Building and is available anytime during break, lunch and after school until 4:30 pm. The items are generally between $2 and $15, though some larger pieces are more money. These one-of-a-kind products make for an affordable and thoughtful gift, all the while supporting our SRHS art students. As Simmons remarked, “Buying locally and from students is the best way to build communities and inspire young artists.”
If you didn’t make it this year, check out the fair next year and support our artists here at SRHS!
