Santa Rosa High School welcomes Gayle Smith as the new food science teacher! Smith brings from Half Moon Bay a wealth of experience and a passion for teaching that is truly appealing. She taught agriculture within a stunning beach view at her prior school. After commuting three hours a day, she decided it was time to be closer to home and join our Panther family.

Smith is eager to immerse herself in our school’s traditions and is excited to learn about the unique community here at SRHS. She radiates positivity and enthusiasm, and her students are already captivated by her dynamic teaching style.

“The students are great. I think they are such an ecliptic group of students that everyone is really diverse,” said Smith. Her classroom, Room 60 in the agriculture building, is an inviting space where she plans to engage students with hands-on learning experiences.

As she settles into her role at SRHS, Smith hopes to inspire her students and foster a love for food science, all while integrating herself into the vibrant student body and contributing to the school’s rich tapestry of traditions and values. With her background in agriculture, Smith also envisions incorporating sustainability and awareness of foodborne illnesses into her food science curriculum, aiming to raise food safety awareness. Her goal is to empower her students and inform them of how to handle food.

In addition to her enthusiasm for teaching, Smith is also looking forward to participating in extracurricular activities and school events. She hopes to connect with students outside the classroom and foster a supportive and inclusive school community. With her warm and approachable demeanor, she is sure to become a beloved member of our school community.

We are truly fortunate to have Smith as part of our faculty. Her dedication to her students and her innovative approach to food science education will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our school and its students. Be sure to welcome Smith to the Santa Rosa High School family!
