JAYDEN CASEY AT WORK: Casey (12) helps Macy’s prepare for the flow of people that are predicted to come on Black Friday. “This year, the Black Friday specials are broken up throughout the month to help with the product flow and customer flow”. SITTING IN THE RAIN. Justin Ehn, a senior, sits in his car waiting for the rain to clear so he can drive safely once again. He is sitting in his car in the parking lot of the place he just ordered food, Mombo’s. “I really wanted to eat my food but I figured it would be better to wait, even if it means my food is slightly colder,” explained Ehn. While it may be an annoyance to wait a while for the rain to go away, he agrees that safety is a priority, not only for himself, but for the other driver’s as well. Photo by Justin
Caycie Clayton’s delicious apple oat muffin, meant to be Fall themed and consisting of nutmeg and cardamom, could easily be a winter themed muffin as well. Overall these muffins were healthy, flavorful and hands down a great snack to have during the holidays. Article and graphic by Rubi Melo Since the arrival of winter, we’ve all been preparing for the cold, rainy weather by searching for comfortable clothes to wear. There’s never been a year when I’ve been prepared for winter weather right away. The first cold day comes around, I look in my closet and I only see tank tops, t-shirts and shorts; and all of a sudden I’m not prepared for the cold at all. For those who have a similar issue and need to know where in Santa Rosa to get quality, inexpensive clothes for Winter fast, I’ve got
Graphic by Julia Sanabria Article by Yasmine Sarraf Many students are stressed about their grades right now; fortunately, there are tutoring options that SRHS students can take advantage of. Not only are there peer tutors that are available, but there are also other resources to take advantage of. In October, the math department released their list of SRHS students who are available to tutor other students one-on-one in math. While tutoring is available for all levels of math, fewer options are available for the higher
MEATLESS HOLIDAYS A REALITY. The meat substitute aisle at Oliver’s market in Cotati, CA is fully stocked with products made from soy, vital wheat gluten, mushrooms, and pea protein. Many brands of meat substitutes make special roasts for Thanksgiving. Santa Rosan Editor-in-chief, Tara Elsa, says that last year her family “had several different vegetarian turkey brands to try out… we decided that Quorn is the best one and we’ll most likely have that for this upcoming thanksgiving as well.” Article and photo by Molly Murphey,
A SUCCESSFUL LEAD-UP TO HALLOWEEN. October 30, 2021, ASB and the Student Government organized a Halloween drive through to connect students to the following holiday. "Whoever You Are, Whatever You Do, Wherever You May Be, When You Think of Refreshment Think of Ice Cold Coca-Cola,” says one of Coca Cola’s old slogans. This tasty beverage has been adored by many soft drinkers and has been a staple in American Society. With a variety of flavors and branched off brands there doesn’t seem to be an end to this company’s reign within our soda industry. Fall weather is the best out of all the seasons and there's doubt about it. By the end of this, you will love the beauty of fall as much as I do.
Fall starts on September 22nd and ends on December 21st. During this time, the weather grows cooler, leaves begin changing color and different plants start to grow. With the cool breeze, it begins to rain again. I
THE RESULTS. These are ‘Caycie’s Cookies’ by senior Caycie Clayton. These cookies are based off of the ‘Cowgirl’ cookies at Arizmendi Bakery in San Francisco. “[My family] were all addicted to them and then covid hit, so we couldn't get the cookies. It was heartbreaking because we really wanted them and we had a sugar addiction. We had to recreate them ourselves and we tried through trial and error to get the recipe right. It ended up coming out better than the bakeries anyway.” Article and Photo by Jaden Burris, Social Media
